Resolving the European energy competitiveness gap

The European competitiveness gap for energy has grown substantially in the past few years. Rapid action is required to reverse this course.

The challenges to European competitiveness, and the linkages to energy prices, energy security and decarbonization have been addressed in major recent reports by Mario Draghi, BusinessEurope, the International Energy Agency and others. This DI Analysis considers relevant points from these analysis with a specific view on the European competitiveness gap for energy.

These reports form the basis of the incoming EU Commission proposing a New Green Industrial Deal – a topic to be discussed at length at Powering European Industry, an event by DI, BusinessEurope, IEA and Danfoss taking place in Sønderborg on 28-29 October 2024 bringing industry, and policy makers together to address the challenges of European competitiveness, energy security and green transition.
