Round Table Meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan
On 3 April at 10.00 – 11.15 DI together with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Denmark will host a round table meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation R.N. Minnikhanov and his accompanying business delegation.
The President is interested in promoting the opportunities for investing in Tatarstan as well as discussing the opportunities for developing the business relations between Tatarstan and Denmark in general. The participants are going to discuss launching and implementation of joint projects and mutually beneficial investments in the Republic.
The roundtable meeting is open for a limited number of Danish companies taking an interest in Tatarstan. Company representatives at executive level are invited to join the meeting and gain the opportunity to speak with the president and the accompanying delegation in a closed circle.
The accompanying delegation includes the Minister of Construction, Architecthure and Communal Services of the Republic of Tartarstan; Mayor of the City of Kazan; Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Tartarstan and leading companies of the Republic.
Tatarstan is situated at the confluence of two large rivers – the Volga and the Kama, being a kind of bridge connecting Russia’s European and Asian parts. Covering an area of 67,800 km2, the republic is approximately the same size as Ireland.
Throughout many centuries, Tatars (53,2%) and Russians (39,7%), Chuvashes and Udmurts, Mordovians and Maris, Ukrainians and Bashkirs - altogether representatives of more than 173 ethnic origins – have lived together in Tatarstan. Today, its population is 3.8 million.
Tatarstan is a developing region, with its success being based on economic stability. The republic is an oil production and petrochemical center, manufacturing KAMAZ heavy-duty trucks and Mi helicopters and has a large agricultural production.
As a meeting point of civilizations, a symbolic crossroads of Eastern and Western, Asian and European religious and cultural traditions, Tatarstan has accumulated extensive experience in maintaining inter-ethnic and inter-faith accord. This experience serves as a perfect background for the republic to develop its contacts with the world, building on trade- and scientific links.
