Fisheries & Aquaculture Delegation to Japan

Join the Danish, Greenlandic and Faroese Seafood Delegation to Japan.

Japan is one of the world’s most important seafood markets – large, demanding, quality-driven, and increasingly focused on sustainability and reliable supply. With a strong national dependence on imports and ambitious goals for modernization and efficiency, the Japanese seafood and technology sectors present significant opportunities for companies from Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. In 2027, Danish Industry, in close cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo and with Danish Export Fish Tech as co-organizers invites you to join a targeted business delegation to Japan. Participants are welcome from Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands (only companies from Denmark and Greenland are eligible for funding from The Trade Council). The delegation will also be joined by officials and organisations from Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Why Join?

Japan’s seafood sector is undergoing a significant transformation. The country is increasingly dependent on high-quality imports supported by strong traceability, while processors across Japan are modernising their operations to meet rising expectations for automation, efficiency and consistency. At the same time, there is growing demand for energy-efficient and labour-saving technologies, as well as solutions that strengthen food safety, sustainability and overall product integrity.

The Kingdom of Denmark and Japan have a tradition of cooperation and in 2027 we are celebrating our 160 anniversary of diplomatic relations. Commercially companies from Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands are recognised for their quality, reliability and innovative production methods. These strengths align closely with Japan’s priorities and provide a solid foundation for expanding their presence in the market.

The programme is designed to deepen the cooperation relationship and generate concrete export opportunities and long-term dialogue with Japanese partners.
