Business delegation to California focusing on energy and water efficiency in the dairy industry

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the business delegation to California and Oregon from April 25-29, 2022, organised by the Confederation of Danish Industry and The Trade Council of Denmark in North America.

California is a significant market due to its size and massive demand for solutions within energy efficiency and water management. California is the largest U.S. state population wise, and the 5th largest economy in the world if measured on its own. California features more than 250 dairy processors and is the greatest milk-producing dairy market in the U.S.

Simultaneously, California suffers from water scarcity and droughts, consumes large quantities of energy and water, and faces rising energy prices. In July 2021, 85% of the state faced extreme droughts. Furthermore, an energy audit from 2019 indicated potential savings of 30-50% in the Californian dairy sector alone.

Several Californian dairies have expressed their need for external support to identify new saving potential and solutions to reduce their energy and water usage. This presents a great opportunity for Danish companies with renowned competences within energy efficiency and water management.

Sustainable Industry Alliance

The delegation to the U.S. is part of the strategic outreach initiative, the Sustainable Industry Alliance (SIA). Through workshops, delegations and site visits, SIA shares knowledge and experiences with U.S. food and beverage processors, who are interested in understanding the potential of energy and resource efficient solutions, and how these different solutions apply to their operations. The alliance was initiated in 2020 by The Trade Council of Denmark in North America and the Confederation of Danish Industry with support from the Danish Energy Agency, EKF, and State of Green. Today, the SIA group additionally includes eight Danish companies, supplying energy, water, and processing equipment and solutions.
