Seminar: EU–Mercosur Interim Trade Agreement
Dansk Industri invites companies to a seminar on the EU–Mercosur Interim Trade Agreement - a landmark deal establishing one of the world’s largest free trade areas, covering more than 700 million consumers.
After more than 25 years of negotiations marked by political hurdles and regulatory adjustments, the interim agreement provisionally entered into force on 1 May 2026. This marks a major breakthrough in one of the most complex and long-running trade negotiations in modern economic diplomacy.
The agreement connects the EU with the Mercosur countries, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, creating significant opportunities for trade and investment.
Under the agreement, tariffs on approximately 90% of EU exports will be eliminated. The remaining tariffs, including those on sensitive sectors such as automobiles, will be phased out over time.
The interim agreement will remain in force until the full agreement is formally ratified, enabling long-negotiated market access improvements to take effect without further delay.
