The Colombian market
Colombia is the second largest country in South America in terms of population with almost 50 million inhabitants. Colombia has a rapidly growing middleclass and a drastically improved security situation, which offers interesting business opportunities within many different areas. GDP is expected to grow by 3.7 % in 2020.
Danish technology, products and design are associated with high quality and excellence among Colombians, which is why the booming consumer market constitutes a huge potential for Danish companies. The creative industry is one of the most prioritized areas of the Colombian Government, who wants to learn from the Nordic countries and their experience.
FILBo is one of the most important international book fairs in Latin America. Global as well as local companies always have an important presence at the fair. For the past 30 years, FILBo has gathered publishers from various countries and nearly 240 national authors. Every year 150-200 events take place during the fair; 13,000 books are sold, and more than 600,000 visitors participate. FILBo targets a broad audience and aims to strengthen relations between the academia, public and private sectors. The Nordic countries will be in the spotlight of both cultural and broader media coverage during the months leading up to the event.
