The Brazilian Market 

Brazil has the 8th largest healthcare market worldwide and the largest in Latin America, transacting DKK448 billion in 2022, an increase of 11% in comparison to 2021. Like Denmark, Brazil has a universal public health system, the SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde), which was responsible for an investment up to R$131 billion in 2022, 19% less than 2021, mostly because of the improvement of epidemiological scenario regarding Covid-19, reducing expenses with hospital assistance and epidemiological monitoring. Roughly 76% of the Brazilian population depends solely on SUS, while 24% has access to private insurance (commonly provided by employers).

In 2021, the Brazilian medical devices market was worth R$17.9 billion (DKK 23 billion), which represents a growth of 36% compared to 2020 and is forecasted to a reach DKK 32.2 billion by 2024. Regarding international trade, Brazilian market usually have a deficit in its trade balance. In 2021, the deficit was US$4.1 billion, a rise of 8.5% comparing to 20209. Imports represented an amount of US$4.9 billion and exports, US$784.4 million. In 2021, of all the products and equipment consumed in the country, around 44% were manufactured locally.
