THE ITALIAN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND INVESTMENTS
The Italian national healthcare system (S.S.N.) is according to the World Health Organization, the third most efficient in the world. It is a regional based healthcare system providing "free" assistance to all citizens in 20 regions. The S.S.N. spends €114 billion euro every year, and private healthcare expenses are accounting for €40 billion.

Italy has one of the highest average life expectancy in the world: 79.4 years for men and 84.5 years for women.

The S.S.N. will in the coming years, receive investments of 15.6 billion euro in the reorganization and modernization of healthcare services. Increasing efficiency and treatment. In particular, to reduce access to the hospitals, enable monitoring of patients at home, and promote disease prevention. These measures include the digitalization of public healthcare services, an enhanced use of healthcare data, as well as the procurement of high-tech equipment and services i.e. patient-centered treatment, outpatient care and remote patient monitoring.

The UOC promotes the redesigning of the Fondazione’s health development paradigms, supporting change of the organizational structure necessary to guarantee quality, fair accessibility and effective services for citizens and economic sustainability to the hospital.

The Operational units divided in three distinct macro-sectors:
