Meet high-level delegation from the Saudi water sector in Copenhagen

The delegation led by His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority, will visit Denmark from May 21 to 22, 2025.

He will be accompanied by several senior officials from the Authority in areas such as regulatory affairs, strategic partnerships, local content, research and emerging technologies, environment, and sustainability, along with the Authority’s research and academic arm. The visit will also include representatives from the National Water Company, the Saudi Water Partnership Company, the Water Transmission Company, and the General Irrigation Corporation.

DI Danish Water Industries will be hosting the classic roundtable:

  • A brief welcome and greeting - Mads
  • A short company introduction - DK companies
  • Sharing of challenges, needs, and desires - KSA delegation
  • Discussion (members get the chance to propose solutions, products, etc.).

We expect a broad water agenda, encompassing water supply, wastewater, desalination, and more.

Important note:

  1. We have informed the Saudi Water Authority about the challenges for Danish water companies when operating in the Saudi market. If a Danish company doesn't have a physical office in Saudi Arabia, they essentially have two options for selling their products – either partner with a commercially registered distributor or establish their own commercially registered entity within the Kingdom. For companies already operating in the Saudi market, the main difficulties seem to be around localization (both production and employment, which is complicated by a lack of readily available skilled nationals and high employee turnover) and the requirement to have their regional headquarters in the Kingdom to be eligible for government tenders. We have also informed the delegation that we would like to address this issue during their visit.
  2. Furthermore, the delegation has informed us that due to time constraints, they prefer not to travel around Denmark and wish to stay solely in the Greater Copenhagen area (site visits, meetings etc.).
