Obtain a fundamental management course with practical and relevant tasks

DI’s leadership course is a practice-oriented education in management, where much of the time is dedicated to training and testing various management tools. We believe that good leadership does not only come from heavy theoretical books, but from putting theory into practice.

During the course, you will create your own development plan, and we will help you to set clear and relevant goals, so you get the most benefit from the course.

Structure of the Leadership course

This management course consists of 6 modules, where you will gain new knowledge and leadership tools. Between the modules, there is time to implement what you have learned in your daily work, allowing you to test what works for you and your employees. Throughout the course, you will share experiences and exchange ideas with the other participants.

- Module 1 (2 days) - Your personal foundation as a leader
  
  The first module of this management course provides you with insight into your own preferences as a leader through a personality profile (JTI), and you will gain an understanding of how these influence your leadership behavior and your energy.
  As a leader, it is essential that you can lead yourself before leading others. We examine leadership in multiple directions.

  Your leadership foundation
- Module 2 (2 days) - From goal to action
  
  This module strengthens your skills within the fundamental disciplines of management. You will gain the insights and abilities you need to optimally fulfil the role of proactive leader, making use of your strengths.
  We begin by focusing on formulating clear goals and working with how you can break these goals down into initiatives and activities that can be delegated and acted upon. Additionally, you will receive training in a conversation model (GROW), which will help you coach employees to achieve their goals.

- Module 3 (2 days) - Change management
  
  In this module, you will strengthen your abilities as a leader of both major and minor change processes, and you will practice leading various change situations.
  We take a closer look at how people typically react to change and how you can handle this as a leader. We practice effective leadership behavior in change situations in practice, including conducting difficult conversations when things are not going as they should.

- Module 4 (2 days) - Leadership of Teams
  
  In this module, you will learn how to effectively develop and lead your team. You will receive practical training in performing the leadership role.
  We begin by reviewing several key tools and focus areas for aligning expectations within the team, and then we apply these tools in practice during an outdoor training session. In a team, conflicts can arise, which you as a leader are responsible for managing. Therefore, it is important that you can understand the real causes behind specific conflicts. Finally, we also work with effective feedback models and practice giving feedback.

- Module 5 (2 days) - Mental Well-being and Leader Resilience
  
  In this module, you will learn how to be a resilient leader with the necessary surplus to ensure a value-creating and healthy work environment.
  We work with your own reactions to pressure and stress, so you become able to recognize the signs and respond in time. Additionally, we address how you – together with other management and the organization – can create a healthy work environment with psychological safety and focus on typical stress factors, enabling you to help prevent stress among your employees.

- Module 6 (15.00-16.00 1 day) - Certification
  
  This module takes place approximately one month after module 5. In this module, you will have the opportunity, together with your colleagues, to work on and prepare a presentation of a case that will be presented to the plenary. Finally, this is the module where your manager is invited to participate in your certification.

Who is the course for?

This course is for those who lead employees. You may have been a leader for a year or two, or you may have held a leadership position for several years without having previously received training in the fundamental methods and tools of management.

The price covers education, course materials, meals and accommodation at DI's conference center, where some of the modules are held.

I've been a manager for a few years. Is this course relevant for me?

Yes, DI’s Leadership Excellence Course is designed for anyone who manages employees. It is relevant whether you’ve been a manager for one or two years or for many years.
However, if you’ve just started your leadership role, we recommend considering the course "Ny i lederjobbet – hvad nu? " designed to give you a strong start in your new position. If you're an experienced leader at a strategic level, we suggest you consider DI’s Strategic Leadership Course.

I don't have managerial responsibilities. Is this course relevant for me?

DI’s Leadership Excellence Course is primarily targeted at managers with personnel responsibilities. If you don’t manage employees but still have a leadership role, you might want to consider the course "Ledelse af kolleger – når du ikke har personaleansvar." This course is designed to help leaders who rely on others' efforts, input, and sense of responsibility but don’t have the authority to command.

Several leaders from my company want to participate. Is that a good idea?

It can enhance the learning outcomes if you can attend with one or more colleagues from your company. During and after the leadership development process, you can use each other as sparring partners and help each other apply your new skills.

How long does the Leadership Excellence Course take?

The course is structured with the understanding that you have a busy schedule. It consists of six modules. The first five modules, held over five months, includes five 2-day modules. Module six is a one day module but from 3pm to 4 pm the next day.
Between modules, you will practice the tools introduced in your daily work, and when we meet again, we will share our experiences.

What is the cost of the Leadership Excellence Course?

The price for DI's Leadership Excellence Course is DKK 58,900 excluding VAT. The fee covers meals, course materials, and accommodation at DI’s conference centre, where the course takes place.

Why should I take a leadership course?

A leadership course can help you develop and strengthen the necessary skills and competencies to become an effective leader.
You will develop your leadership abilities, such as learning to communicate clearly and effectively, motivate and inspire employees, make decisions and solve problems efficiently, set goals, delegate tasks, and guide your team through changes in your company.
You will also develop personally, for instance, by working on a personal profile that provides you with self-awareness, which is a strong foundation for understanding others as well.

Which leadership course should I choose?

When choosing a leadership course, several factors should be considered:
- Is it practice-oriented or more theory-heavy?
- Are you a new leader, or do you already have significant experience? At DI, we offer both DI’s Leadership Excellence Course and DI’s Strategic Leadership Excellence Course.
- Is the course flexible and can it be tailored to your needs?
- What is the cost of the course?
It's a good idea to base your choice on your own needs and preferences. At Danish Industries, we favour practice-oriented courses and programmes because they give participants the opportunity to test theory in practice through various cases and exercises.
