The aim of the webinar is to show the market potential for Danish companies within energy efficiency in buildings in Romania.

Meet the Danish Ambassador in Romania, who will give his perspective on green investments in Romania and learn how the Trade Council can help Danish companies with interests in energy efficiency in buildings in Romania.

Furthermore, you will meet the Executive Director of the Romanian Association for Promoting Energy Efficiency in Buildings and the Director of Rockwool Romania, who will share their knowledge about energy efficiency in buildings in the country, and you will be able to ask questions to them via the chat function.

Facts about the Market

Total built floor area in Romania is approximatively 493 million square meters and 5,3 million buildings, out of which residential buildings represent 86% and non-residential 14%.

There is a stringent need for the existing building stock to be brought in line with the energy efficiency standards. The spectrum of buildings in need of renovations is large, not least in terms of educational, healthcare, sports and commercial units.

Many commercial units were built before 1915, and most public buildings were built in communist time, when there was no focus on energy efficiency. Cities across the country have begun renovating the old buildings, and modern office buildings and facilities have been built after 1991. Many of the new buildings in Romania will also profit from smart renovation measures.

The Romanian Government has elaborated new investment plans for renovation and rehabilitation of buildings using both national funds and EU funds. For the period 2021-2027, about EUR 2 billion are expected for this purpose.

On top of this, negotiations are ongoing regarding the use in Romania of part of EU’s huge new Recovery and Resilience Facility. The negotiations are not over yet, but when finished the amount for renovation of buildings in Romania is expected to increase significantly.

Thereby, the green transformation in Romania within energy efficiency in building poses an interesting new market opportunity for Danish companies.
