Webinar: The Power of Collective Action

The Fight Against Facilitation Payments Initiative (FAFPI) invites you to join the webinar on “The Power of Collective Action”

The Fight Against Facilitation Payments Initiative (FAFPI) is a collective action uniting companies and organizations in the fight against demands for facilitation payments. The initiative was started in 2018 in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Confederation of Danish Industry, companies and NGOs as a collective multi-stakeholder response to the challenge of the individual company or organization who is not being able to address facilitation payments on its own.

Every day, companies and organizations are met with demands for facilitation payments in their business affairs globally, such as when they seek to cross borders, obtain licenses and permits, transport goods, or apply for a service. The payments are often smaller amounts demanded by a government official to speed up the performance of a routine process to which the organization is already legally entitled.

Facilitation payments are illegal in many countries and create legal, reputational and operational risks for any organisation, as well as unfair competition. Fighting facilitation payments is not only the right thing to do, but also the sustainable thing to do. FAFPI’s mission contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, justice, and strong institutions and 17: Partnerships for the goals.

To share insights, best practices and discuss these challenges FAFPI invites for a free webinar series in the coming period, with the first webinar taking place on June 23, 2021 in collaboration with Global Compact and zooming in on The Power of Collective Action and experiences from the field in the Fight Against Facilitation Payments.
