Webinar

Green Tech and Circularity in Bangladesh garment sector

The Confederation of Danish Industry and the Trade Council in Dhaka would like to invite you to the kick off webinar focusing on green transition in the Bangladesh garment sector– one of the biggest in the world.

THE GARMENT SECTOR  is a dominant and a vital driver in the Bangladesh economy. Even amid the pandemic, the country was-ranked the third largest sourcing hub for US-based apparel and fashion companies in 2020. Bangladesh is the world’s 2nd largest RMC exporter, accounting for approx. 14% of their GDP. More than 60% of the RMC exports goes to the EU.

IN BANGLADESH however, rapid growth also increase wastage and emission in parallel. Industries like textile and dyeing developed along  the Sitalakhya bank  discharge untreated waste water directly into the river.  it is anticipated that textile water demand will be increased by 270,3 % compared to 2014 by 2030.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES means that Bangladesh increasingly addresses efficient resource management, backward integration into manufacturing, and needs to live up to the circularity standards in the production process.

THE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE need to put further effort towards greening the sector in general. To support this green transition, the Danish Trade Council is organizing this webinar where local business leaders and policy makers will present to you the ongoing green transition and viable business opportunities for Danish green technology and circular expertise in the sector.
