The aim of the webinar is to show the potential for Danish-Polish cooperation, taking a starting point with green transition. The Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka will give his perspective on the climate and energy policy, also in the context of EU 2030 goals.

Then we will look at green investments in Poland and funding programs that support many projects implemented in the country. Last, but not least you will get a closer look at the wind energy and district heating sectors and possibility to ask questions via the chat function.

The transformation of the Polish energy sector is one of the most ambitious processes in the European Union. High dependence on coal is a reality in the Polish energy mix today and deep structural changes related to the reduction of emissions in the energy sector are needed.

Last year Poland held the largest European onshore wind auction ever with a total volume of 2.2 GW. This year the plan is to auction 800 MW, for wind power only. Current installed capacity, with regards to onshore wind is more than 6 GW, and Poland has an ambition to build up to 11 GW of offshore wind within the next two decades.

The solar energy sector since 2017 is growing by over 170% per year and the government plans to tender 3.2 GW of solar by the end of next year. By 2040 Poland is expected to have 20 GW of solar power. Similar dynamics can be observed in energy efficiency, district heating and bioenergy sectors.
