Webinar on Italy’s Maritime and Port Development

Join this webinar to learn more about Italy’s Maritime and Port Development. The sector is entering a decisive implementation phase, which creates opportunities for cooperation between Denmark and Italy.

Italy represents one of Europe’s most attractive growth markets for green port and maritime technologies. With 58 major commercial ports governed by 16 Port System Authorities, the country hosts one of the largest and most strategically positioned port infrastructures in Europe.

More than EUR 9.2 billion has been allocated to port and logistics development under Italy’s national plans. Italian ports such as Taranto, Augusta, Genoa, and La Spezia are undergoing a major transformation across three key dimensions:

  • Sustainability and Digitalisation: including environmental cost protection frameworks, onshore power supply (OPS/cold ironing), energy efficiency measures, and the deployment of digital twin technologies for real-time port monitoring and planning;
  • Advanced Logistics: encompassing automated terminal operations, AI-driven cargo flow optimisation, intermodal connectivity between sea, rail and road, smart port platforms for vessel traffic management, and data-sharing solutions along the supply chain;
  • Bunkering and New Fuels: with investments in LNG bunkering infrastructure, green methanol and ammonia supply chains, hydrogen pilot projects, and shore-side energy systems aligned with FuelEU Maritime and IMO 2050 decarbonisation targets.

Within this framework, Danish companies with expertise in clean technology, maritime digitalisation, and sustainable energy positions are key partners for Italian Port Authorities and industry clusters.

This webinar will also introduce you to the Danish Delegation Visit to Italy (21–23 October). More information on the delegation is available here: Delegation to Italy on Maritime and Port Development
