Denmark launches government-appointed growth team to boost biosolutions
The Danish government has launched a strategic growth team to advance the biosolutions sector, focusing on accelerating approvals and developing facilities.
On 9 May 2025, the Danish government unveiled a new strategic growth team aimed at crafting a comprehensive national strategy for the biosolutions sector. This milestone follows three years of focused efforts to strengthen Denmark’s position as a global leader in biosolutions.
The growth team features prominent industry figures including Tina Sejersgård Fanø (Novonesis), Peder Tuborgh (Arla Foods), Birgitte Skadhauge (Carlsberg Group), Thomas G. Schmidt (21st.BIO), and Randi Wahlsten (Matr Foods). Their combined expertise is expected to play a central role in shaping the sector’s future.
Among the team’s top priorities are accelerating product approvals, developing large-scale upscaling facilities, and securing growth capital for Danish biosolutions ventures. These efforts are closely aligned with global sustainability trends and Denmark’s strong innovation profile.
The initiative has received strong support from government ministers including Morten Bødskov, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Jacob Jensen, and Lars Aagaard, who emphasize the sector’s role in climate action and Denmark’s food industry leadership.
