Energy Efficiency in Japan

New Market Opportunities Webinar on Wednesday 8 February 2023 (9.00-10.00 Denmark / 17.00-18.00 Japan)

Energy efficiency in Japan
Energy efficiency is high on the political agenda in Japan. This is driven by the current surge in energy prices and the fulfilment of the Japanese target to reduce GHG-emissions by 46% in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2050. In 2022 a new bill for improvement of energy consumption in buildings was adopted making it mandatory for all new buildings to live up to energy conservation standards from 2025 onward.

District heating interest
Furthermore, district heating is becoming a central topic in Sapporo, Hokkaido. The district heating system in the city centre was constructed as a part of the preparation for the 1972 Winter Olympics and the city is now looking into renovating and extending the district heating system. The authorities have asked the embassy to facilitate presentation of state-of-the-art solutions in district heating based on Danish experiences and solutions.

Embassy renovation with energy efficiency in focus
The Danish embassy will be renovated during 2023 and 2024, and the renovation project represents a great opportunity to showcase Danish solutions in energy renovation, refurbishment and insulation.
