Powering European Industry

Energy at the center of European industrial strategy

European industry faces several challenges: High energy prices, exacerbated by geopolitical events, continues to threaten profitability and competitiveness. Meanwhile, society is challenged by climate change and dependency on imported fossil fuels and raw materials.

A strategic focus on reducing the energy competitiveness gap, while increasing green energy supply and energy efficiency is needed. To address these urgent issues, European industry leaders convened in Sønderborg, Denmark on the 28th-29th of October 2024 to discuss necessary strategies and action to reinvigorate European competitiveness.

Powering European Industry took place at a critical juncture amidst the leadership transition in the European Union and the forthcoming US elections. The main objective was for business and thought leaders to address the challenges and optimize European competitiveness in an energy perspective.

The debate was informed by new reports by the IEA, Mario Draghi, BusinessEurope and Danfoss.

The conference provided an exclusive opportunity to discuss European industrial competitiveness with leading analysts, policy makers and European industry leaders – strengthening the foundation and providing a signal for the incoming European political leadership on this important agenda.

Powering European Industry was hosted jointly by Danish Industry, Danfoss, the International Energy Agency and BusinessEurope – all committed to exploring necessary steps to improve Europe’s competitiveness in conjunction with energy transition.
