Green Hydrogen in Spain

10.30-11.15

Spain – A key market for hydrogen business development

Background
Spain has an abundance of sunshine and windy hillsides, making it a well-suited location for green hydrogen plants. The government plans for Spain are therefore to position the country as a renewable hydrogen exporting nation of Europe in the medium-long term.

Spain has taken a sweeping step toward dominating Europe’s green hydrogen economy, unleashing 1.22 billion Euro in funding for seven hydrogen hub megaprojects totaling 2.3GW across Aragon, Andalusia, Castilla y León, and Galicia.

At the same time, Spain is also moving upstream in the energy value chain, allocating another 297.3 million Euro for 34 strategic manufacturing projects focused on electrolyer systems, wind and solar components, battery technologies, and heat pumps—a bold bid to fortify energy sovereignty and industrial competitiveness in the midst of global clean tech rivalry.

What is the market outlook for Danish companies, where are the biggest potentials, can we activate the whole value chain, and how do we benefit from the potentials?
