Wind Energy Market Update
10.30-11.15
Global outlook – featuring Southern Europe, Türkiye and North America
Global Market Update
Gain the latest insights into international wind energy markets as Brinckmann opens the session with an update on global wind power deployment and key market developments. This will be followed by updates from Danish embassy representatives covering Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal), Türkiye, and the United States / Canada. They will provide perspectives on market opportunities, challenges, and policy trends in their respective regions. The session offers participants a valuable overview of key export markets and the factors shaping demand for green energy solutions.

Southern Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Portugal)
Southern Europe is an attractive growth market for wind energy, driven by ambitious climate targets, rapid electrification, and strong political support for expanding both onshore and offshore capacity. Spain and Portugal are mature markets with high levels of activity, while France and Italy are significantly accelerating investments. The region offers a substantial project pipeline, increasing demand for grid expansion, and significant opportunities in both new developments and repowering projects.
Frederik Thure (Energy Attaché in Paris)
Türkiye
Türkiye has become one of Europe's most dynamic wind energy markets, with more than 15 GW of installed wind capacity and approximately 2 GW of new installations expected annually for the next decade, making it the second-largest growth market in Europe after Germany. Alongside this expansion, a significant share of the existing fleet is approaching an age where retrofit solutions, lifetime extension, component upgrades, digital optimization, and advanced service offerings are becoming increasingly relevant. The combination of a rapidly growing installed base, an emerging repowering and modernization market, and a well-developed local manufacturing ecosystem creates substantial opportunities for companies active in aftersales services, operations and maintenance, turbine performance upgrades and supply chain solutions. Türkiye's strong industrial capabilities and strategic location further position the country as a regional hub serving both domestic demand and neighbouring markets.
Seda Kayrak Bilgen (Senior Trade Manager – Wind Energy, Istanbul)
United States & Canada
North America represents one of the world’s largest wind energy markets, with a substantial installed base and continued growth driven in part by electrification, data centres, and advanced manufacturing. Despite the political environment, the United States maintains strong activity in both repowering and utility-scale wind development, while Canada is accelerating green investments across its provinces. The market offers significant opportunities in technology upgrades, operational efficiency improvements, and grid integration.
