March 17, 2020: Information concerning new and more stringent corona measures

In the evening of 17 March, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced new significant and strict measures to help break the infection chain and deal with the present crisis affecting Denmark, Europe and the rest of the world.

Dear DI-Member,

In the evening of 17 March, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced new significant and strict measures to help break the infection chain and deal with the present crisis affecting Denmark, Europe and the rest of the world.

An overview of the new measures is available here: https://politi.dk/en/coronavirus-in-denmark

There is no doubt that many companies will be affected by this tightening up involving new obligations, although – and this should also be stressed – it does not include ordinary use of public transport means (train, buses, flights, ferries etc.) and normal presence at workplaces - except for being careful.

Consequently, DI welcomes the announcement by the prime minister that the new measures be initiated immediately. DI is in a continuous and close dialogue on how the government and the Danish Parliament can introduce new and comprehensive initiatives to help Danish economy, Danish workplaces and Danish companies get through this crisis in the best possible way. There are indications that the economic consequences will be serious and the need for political measures to shield workplaces and companies grows steadily.

Here you can see the press release sent out by DI concerning the tightened measures (Please note, this link refers to a Danish site only.)

I urge all our members to use DI when dealing with this crisis.

It has been updated with a guidance on the agreement made by DI and CO-industri (on 17 March) on sending employees home without pay. On behalf of your company, please feel free to contact DI’s Jura Vagt for legal assistance on tel. 3377 3377. It is manned between 8.00 and 18.00, and between 8.00 and 16.00 over the weekend. The guidance is updated several times daily – including clarification of queries, arising from the new measures.

Kind regards,

Lars Sandahl Sørensen
