Estonia
Estonia is located entirely in the catchment area of the Baltic Sea and almost half of Lake Peipsi (Europe’s 5th biggest lake) is located on Estonian territory.
Estonia became a member of the European Union in 2003 and held the presidency of the European Council in the second half of 2017.
There are 7000 rivers, brooks and canals in Estonia. The river system is therefore dense, but most rivers are characterized by short lengths, small catchment areas and low flowrates.
