Børsen: A national defence industry strategy that assures security and workplaces
Today, the daily newspaper Børsen, brings a feature article, which highlights four concrete proposals regarding a new defence strategy. The proposals are elaborated by the Danish Union of Metalworkers and The Confederation of Danish Industry.
A fragile world
February 10, 2021, Børsen's article: The national defence industry strategy must create security and workplaces is being released. The article is written by chairman, Claus Jensen from The Danish Metalworkers' Union and Managing Director of The Confederation of Danish Industry, Lars Sandahl. The two organisations have four concrete proposals for the new national defence industry strategy. They underline the need for a strong defence policy that goes hand in hand with the growth of Danish workplaces within the Danish defence industry.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been reminded that the world is fragile. We must be prepared for unpredictable events and external factors, that might threaten the country in any kind.
The defence policy and technological development are rapidly changing, and we must ensure that Denmark plays an active role in that area - not only for the security of our society but also because for the importance of creating workplaces.
Four proposals
In other words: We might be in the middle of a crisis, but we must not underestimate future possible crises. Thus, the four proposals will contribute to a stronger and more competitive defence industry as a part of the national defence industry strategy.
Denmark must strengthen research and development within the area of defence technology.
Denmark must always be ahead when it comes to education and competencies.
Denmark must support Danish security interests within the framework of EU regulations.
Denmark must incorporate green transition into our defence policy.
