When Precision Technic Defence was established in the mid-eighties the products and services was miles away from the defense market. Land surveying equipment, beacons and electro optical cameras were on the shelf and the latter was the foundation of a fast-growing business suppling systems to identify cracks in city utility pipes. The cameras were supplied by American FLIR Systems and the Danish company’s success secured it a number two spot on FLIR’s list of its international partners.

In 2009 the Precision Technic Defence management made a strategic decision to turn the company towards the defense market, and that’s when Jeppe Müller joined the firm:

- I was serving in the Danish special forces when I was approached by the CEO who wanted me on their team with a single task: Launch and expand a defense division. The task coincided with FLIR’s ambition of expanding its involvement with the Danish Army and my extensive knowledge from the special operations community was a solid basis for that.

FLIR was and still is a very important partner of Precision Technic Defense but the company was aiming for much more than a single OEM:

Innovative SME's

- All the major defense contractors were already established in Denmark via a subsidiary or a local partner hence we had to go for other companies. I spend years on the road travelling around the USA to identify innovative SME’s mostly within the SOCOM business and of course my international network came in handy, Jeppe Müller explains.

Today the Danish company is the sales partner of 68 foreign defense contractors and hold 17 framework agreements with the Danish armed forces. Mr. Müllers achievements made him partner and CEO in 2013 and since 2014 Precision Technic Defense is 100 pct. military business.

Turn Key Solutions

Through the past ten years the CEO has experienced changes in the customer’s requirements. Risk averseness is growing in the procurement divisions of the armed forces and creates a wish to acquire off the shelf solutions. A market development that paved the way for companies like Precision Technic Defence, according to Mr. Müller:

- We develop, test and supply turn key solutions to the armed forces based on deep insight in the needs and possibilities on the tactical level and as a small company we can adapt very fast to any changes in the market, Jeppe Müller says and adds: - Our dismounted digital soldier architecture suite illustrates that very well. We design a system and puts together the best components from several sub suppliers, runs it through vigorous testing and provide the Danish warfighters with a C4ISR solution that matches the best in the world.

The activities of Precision Technic Defense are split in half between pure sales and providing and servicing tactical solutions. The latter segment is expected to grow in the future as a variety of digital systems are getting increasingly deployed on the tactical level.
