CO:PLAY

CO:PLAY is a highly specialized law firm focusing on technology. Our team of lawyers provide expert advice centered on the business interests of our clients and the use of technology, M&A and investments in tech companies and corporate affairs. We have particular focus on cyber security and compliance, including the forthcoming implementation of the NIS 2-directive, the DORA Regulation and GDPR.

Combining an understanding of technology, law and business

Our Partner Christian Wiese Svanberg joined from a position as General Counsel at the Danish Defense Intelligence Service (Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste). He was responsible for the legal issues related to Offensive Cyber Operations (CNO/CNE), SIGINT and all legal issues within the Center for Cyber Security (CFCS). Christian played a key role in the pending implementation of the NIS 2-directive into Danish law. He also has extensive experience with handling the most sensitive cyber security incidents, where solutions must not only be compliant, but also accommodate the most sensitive security needs and shield the affected organization from as many negative effects as possible.

Based on his unique insights Christian assists clients with navigating their relations with authorities across the purview of the Danish Ministry of Defense. The special considerations applicable to matters related to national defense and security, can make it difficult for private vendors to establish the best possible dialogue with authorities and to identify the dynamics at play within authorities. This is where CO:PLAY adds value for clients in the Defense and National Security domain.

Our partner Mandeep Singh Rathour has more than 20 years of experience within IT and Telecoms including complex contracts regarding business processes, outsourcing, SaaS and cloud. Mandeep also assists large clients like telecommunications providers in complex transactions and clients of all sizes in procurement processes when clients bid to become vendors to Defense authorities in Denmark and abroad.

Unique understanding of authorities across the defense domain

CO:PLAY offer our clients a unique understanding of the most sensitive issues within the defense domain and assist them in matters ranging from handling cyber incidents to seeking accreditation under the Danish regime for handling classified information (akkreditering efter sikkerhedscirkulæret), procurement and ransomware negotiations.

Innovative solutions to a world with greater risks, including legal risks

CO:PLAY recently launched CO:RESPONSE, a solution that addresses our client’s needs when confronted with cyber breaches. The service combines our understanding of both the legal and cyber security risks faced by clients dealing with cyber incidents like ransomware, compromised networks etc. Depending on the specific cyber security incident we – and our partners from intelligence, law enforcement and it-services – can assist with digital forensics, reporting to the competent authorities, negotiations with ransomware actors and reestablishing services. All aspects of the service are subject the rules on to attorney-client confidentiality which only apply to lawyers, thus providing our clients the best possible legal risk-managing framework when confronted with the high-risk scenario of a cyber security incident or breach.

Why we joined DI Danish Defence and Security Industries Association

We strive to make our contribution to ensuring the best possible conditions for the Danish defense sector and in turn ensuring Denmark remains a safe and free society.

Given the unique understanding of the defence and intelligence space our team of lawyers possess, we aim to help members of the Danish defence industry navigate the legal issues that arise within areas like compliance with applicable law like NIS 2, negotiating IT-contracts and when bidding for defence contracts.

Leveraging our understanding of the most sensitive national security matters we help create real-world value for our clients.
