Women In eCommerce - Denmark

This network is about empowering women in e-commerce and inspiring more women to join an exciting world of e-commerce.

E-commerce is growing both for B2B and B2C, so the future demands many more e-commerce talents. This becomes crucial in the competitive global landscape, especially sharpened after the COVID-19 crisis. We need a business and job market that reflects the world we live in and trade with.

The need for talent and more workers is one of business’s greatest challenges. In a Danish Industry survey, six out of ten companies reported that they see a shortage of labor as the biggest challenge for development and growth. Within e-commerce, the challenge is that one in five Danish companies has vacant positions. Among larger companies, where specialists are more sought after, it's every third company.

It is therefore crucial that companies have access to the entire talent pool. We need all talents to be utilized and to see more women in leadership positions within e-commerce or the business areas that represent e-commerce in the company. This network is about empowering women in e-commerce and inspiring more women to join an exciting world of e-commerce.

About the network

The initiative to create a network of women in e-commerce arose in response to the underrepresentation of women at the eCom Talent Award and in the profession.

Proactive members of Danish Industry took the initiative to gather a group of women to explore what drives those already in e-commerce and how we have reached our current positions. What barriers have we encountered along the way? It also provides space to laugh a bit at the challenges we've faced. We come together to support each other and to inspire other women to get started in a field we are passionate about. For us, it's also about bringing more women into the spotlight and creating connections among ourselves through a network that we, as women, may not always prioritize creating.

In the long run, the dream is to expand the network to include those who also need to be part of the solution – our male colleagues. For now, the network represents a group of leaders, managers, and specialists within e-commerce, including areas such as logistics, sales, marketing, law, IT, customer service, etc., and there is room for more.

Introduction to the network group
