Food Systems in the Age of Polycrisis

The world is facing a once-in-a-generation crossroad.

If the shutdown that followed the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the fragilities of the global supply chains, then the Russian invasion of Ukraine thrust much of the global south into a severe food security crisis. As the agri-food system seeks to adapt to these crises, it is also facing the generational challenge of transitioning to a sustainable, bio-based economy.

The agri-food sector is afflicted by what has been described as a polycrisis; a succession of crises that are interacting to create something that is worse than the sum of their parts. From the European Union’s “Farm-to-Fork strategy” to UK’s “National Food Strategy”, European governments are grappling with the challenge to mitigate these crises.

How do we make sense of the many challenges facing the agri-food sector at this moment? And what can be done about it?

Thinktank EUROPA and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI Bio) have partnered up to provide the answers to these questions, at our half-day conference in the House of Industry.

Participation is free of charge.
