Taiwan Livestock Expo 2023

The Confederation of Danish Industry the Trade Council of Denmark Taipei, and Food Nation invites you to join the Danish Pavilion at Livestock Taiwan 2023

Taiwan livestock production industry is at a turning point, expecting to transform from polluted and low productivity to modern and sustainable production.

The Taiwan Government announced a coming four-year budget of TWD 12.96 billion equivalent to DKK 2.855 billion allocated for modernisation of pig production and pig slaughterhouses, including the introduction of HACCP standards to pig slaughterhouses.

This will be the biggest initiative and the largest budget amount to support the transformation of pig industry.  In October 2021, Taiwan  proposed a draft amendment which would strive for net zero emissions by 2050.

Additionally, more than 3 billion of Taiwanese dollars (DKK 72 million) are allocated to subsidize investment in automation and smart farming, renovation of farm buildings, manure handling, and cold chain for poultry production. In addition to green transition, biosecurity and resource efficiency are the top priority of the livestock industry.

The key drivers for investment in advanced and green solutions are:

  • Taiwan government’s goal is to reach net zero emission for agriculture production by 2040. Significant amount of budget are allocated to support the net zero initiative.
  • Strict environmental regulations and the public demand for clean neighbourhood nearby the farms. High demand for solutions for reducing farm waste, odour, and waste water treatment. Farmers need to pay a fee to get rid of pig manure and bedding material of poultry farm and it is expensive.
  • The sector faces labour shortage and it is difficult to attract people to work in the farms. The industry is keen to introduce automotive and smart farming solutions. The Taiwanese government provides subsidies to farmers for relevant investment.
