Danish Offshore Wind Day in Paris

Get to know the upcoming offshore tenders and offshore wind ecosystem in France.

Strong offshore investments
France is one of Europe’s largest markets for wind energy and is now truly embarking on the offshore wind journey with large tenders planned for 2024 and 2025 – including a mega-tender of around 10 GW and at least 1 GW to be tendered per year after 2025. The overall target for France is 18 GW of installed capacity by 2035 and at least 45 GW by 2050.

This means significant new business opportunities for the wind industry – both in the short run and sustained over a longer time span.

Meet the market
Therefore, Danish Industry and the Embassy of Denmark in France invite you for an Offshore Wind Day on 28 May 2024 at the Danish Embassy in Paris. During this day, participating Danish companies will:

  • Get an overview of the planned tenders from relevant French authorities and organisations
  • Meet French and Danish project developers active in the market
  • Learn from the experience from previous offshore wind tenders in France
  • Meet French and Danish players in the wind industry – and hear about their visions and plans for taking part in the booming offshore wind opportunities in France
  • Discuss physical and logistical aspects and challenges – and how to handle them – with select French harbours and offshore wind manufacturing sites

We will invite French energy authorities in charge of planning and tendering to share information on upcoming tenders, timing, and criteria to take part. We invite French wind industry organisations to share their perspectives on the market. And we invite interesting French wind energy market players to share their plans and partnering possibilities.

Further Background

The French electricity mix is dominated by nuclear power. The country's goal is to achieve energy independence whilst increasing the proportion of renewable energy in its electricity mix. The government's latest announcements confirm a favourable political context to further develop offshore wind in France. In addition, the conditions are good, as France has Southern Europe’s largest and Europe’s 2nd-largest offshore wind resource after Great Britain.

Plans for offshore build-out and tenders have been agreed and published. The planned tenders include both bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind parks. Large tenders are to be published during 2024 and early 2025 and now is the time to prepare.

A sustained focus on France

We keep our eyes on the booming business opportunities in the wind industry through a range of activities during 2024 to help connect you to closer to offshore wind tenders, and key stakeholders within the offshore wind ecosystem.
