Lars Sandahl Sørensen appointed new CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry

The Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) will welcome its new CEO when Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Deputy President at SAS, assumes the position in mid-August.

Chairman of DI Lars-Peter Søbye is delighted to have such a renowned and competent profile at the helm of Denmark’s leading trade and employers’ organisation.

“DI plays a key role in creating sustainable growth, jobs and prosperity in Denmark. With Lars Sandahl Sørensen as our new CEO, DI is getting a leader who knows what it takes to continue this work, develop DI and become even more globally competitive. Lars has a strong personal drive and significant executive experience from numerous companies. In addition, he brings experience from international companies and boards, which can help lift DI to the next level,” says Chairman of DI Lars-Peter Søbye.

Lars Sandahl Sørensen looks forward to taking on the position of CEO of DI.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and great responsibility to take the helm at Denmark’s leading trade and employers’ organisation. I look forward to taking part in the development of DI and creating even greater understanding of what it takes to strengthen Danish business and the Danish welfare state,” says Lars Sandahl Sørensen.

He notes that DI has an important responsibility in coming years to take the lead in innovation and sustainable growth.

“Politicians play an extremely important role in creating the necessary frameworks and policies. To a large extent, it is businesses that are able to create the concrete, innovative sustainable solutions that are in such high demand both in Denmark and abroad. Denmark has a unique starting point, and it will be one of DI’s main priorities in coming years to help realise this potential on a global scale,” says Lars Sandahl Sørensen.

Lars Sandahl Sørensen’s predecessor Karsten Dybvad stepped down as CEO in December 2018 in connection with his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Danske Bank.
